Fulfilling Two Big Dreams & Why I Haven’t Posted Recently

Welcome back to The Soul Jam. I know it’s been a long time since I published my last post. In case you were wondering, nope, I haven’t quit blogging.

Over the past few months, I’ve been busy with work, and it didn’t help either that ideas weren’t flowing like it used to, because of which blogging had to take a backseat.

I’ve never liked publishing any article for the sake of posting it, and to be frank during this period, I couldn’t come up with any post that I was satisfied enough to publish.

Then in August, I got the opportunity of a lifetime, (which I’ll be talking about more in this post), and that again led me to put off blogging.

I apologise, if you have been visiting the site over the past few months to see if I have posted anything new.

Anyways, in this post I’d like to talk to you about a couple of developments that have taken place in my life recently.

Recently we launched a video interview series at work, which I felt was relevant to share here since the show, at its core is about personal growth, which is also what this blog has always been about.

Ever since I rejoined my family business for my second stint (around one and a half years ago), a project that I have strongly felt we should do is a video interview series featuring leading business leaders from my home state, Kerala (India).

To give you a brief background about our family business, Dhanam (meaning wealth in Malayalam) was founded by my father around 35 years ago. It is a media organisation focussed on promoting, and encouraging business.

The business magazine is our flagship product and we cover business news, entrepreneurship, stock market, personal finance, management etc. We also organise business conferences, have a daily business news website and publish books.

Around three years ago, I had discussed writing a book featuring interviews with top business leaders from Kerala with my mother, who is also deeply involved in the business.

I had prepared a project report about what it would be about, some of the questions to ask and identified people we could interview.

One of the primary objectives of the project would be to reveal the mindset, habits & routines of extraordinary achievers and understand what makes them stand out from the rest.

However, we eventually dropped the plan because with reading habit declining, we weren’t sure about the potential reach and the profitability of such a project.

Then when I rejoined the family business, there was already an idea at office of doing a video interview series featuring business leaders.

This sparked an idea to revive the initial project I had made years earlier. Instead of making it into a book, we could do a video interview series and publish it on YouTube and social media.

But the project was stuck in the idea phase for a long time, and things weren’t moving due to various reasons, and I wondered if it would ever happen.

Then finally things slowly started coming together. We identified the venue, decided on a format, designed a logo, took our first interview, got a sponsor for the series etc.

The Dhanam Titans Show was released on YouTube a couple of months ago, and I am happy to say that the feedback we have received has been extremely positive.

The anchor of our show, Geena T.S, who is the one interviewing the business leaders, has received praise from not just top entrepreneurs, but also autorickshaw drivers (tuk-tuk drivers) who have recognised her after seeing the show.

Here is the YouTube playlist to our show. The interviews are in my mother tongue, Malayalam.

If you understand Malayalam, I’d highly recommend checking it out (even if you are not interested in business) because some of the experiences and stories shared by our guests are insightful and thought-provoking.

We have also added English subtitles to a couple of our interviews featuring Santhosh George Kulangara (a celebrity in Kerala who has visited more than 130 countries in the world). He is a witty, inspirational and fascinating personality.

There has also been another development in my life recently.

Taking a trip across Europe has been my dream ever since high school. It is something that I have fantasized and talked a lot about with friends over the years.

Finally, this August, it happened!

I spent 35 days travelling around Europe and visiting 8 countries in the process. It was an eye-opening experience!

I’ll be sharing more about my trip in my next post. I also hope to post more regularly.

I hope you are doing well.
